Turning renewable energy into industrial value creation

“Net Zero Valley” is an official status awarded by the European Union – comparable to a coveted European seal of quality for an entire region. Its legal basis is the Net-Zero Industry Act. The aim behind it: Europe wants to once again manufacture more of the key technologies for a clean future itself – such as wind turbines, modern batteries or hydrogen technology – and become more independent.
To obtain this status, regions must apply and demonstrate that they offer special prerequisites. Once a region is designated as a Net Zero Valley, special rules apply there: companies that develop and produce climate-friendly future technologies benefit locally from significantly faster approval procedures, prioritised access to EU funding and optimal conditions for their growth.

What we want to achieve

Figures that speak for themselves

Our initiative stands on a solid foundation. It is backed up across the state by concrete projects and impressive data.
These figures merely reflect the status documented in the application. The site register and the project pipeline are being continuously developed.
- 15 local authorities are involved: 11 districts and 4 independent cities.
- Around 15800 km² of state territory give our Net Zero Valley the space it needs.
- Approximately 2.95 million people live here (as of 2024).
- 423 submitted project and contribution profiles provide a wide range of ideas from across the state.
- 5151 hectares of registered development land are available across the state.
- More than 400 participants attended our kick-off conference.
- 6 prioritised technology fields form our thematic focus.
- This renewable electricity generation covered around 170 percent of our own state consumption in 2023.
Six technology fields. Diverse opportunities for the future.
