Our head start: Tailwind for the industry of tomorrow

With the Net Zero Valley Schleswig-Holstein initiative, we want to develop our state into a leading European location for industries focused on climate neutrality and net-zero technologies. What makes our approach special: we do not think in terms of individual, locally confined industrial parks. Instead, we see the whole of Schleswig-Holstein as one coherent, functionally interconnected ecosystem.

The starting position for this undertaking is excellent. Schleswig-Holstein already generates significantly more electricity from renewable sources than we consume within the state. This green electricity is an essential “raw material” for a sustainable economy. We also score with high-performance seaports, the Kiel Canal and the planned connection to the hydrogen core network. Together with other Net Zero Valleys in Germany, we are linking into a strong nationwide network for the industry of the future.

How we rethink value creation

We want to make consistent use of our locational advantages to create genuine industrial value. At its core, our aim is to build an environment that supports companies, creates new jobs and strengthens the region in the long term.

Making room for good ideas

We combine renewable energy, research, well-trained skilled workers and modern infrastructure. The goal is the rapid development of new production capacity. Companies should find it easy here not only to develop climate-friendly technologies, but also to produce them on an industrial scale.

Thinking and networking across borders

It is important to us to embed Schleswig-Holstein even more firmly in national and European networks. Cross-border cooperation also plays a key role when it comes to paving the way for innovations into new markets.

Securing economic strength and jobs for the future

By accelerating investment, we strengthen the region's long-term competitiveness and secure the jobs of tomorrow. Beyond that, the Net Zero Valley makes a decisive contribution to making Schleswig-Holstein Germany's first climate-neutral industrial state by 2040.
