Around 400 participants from business, academia, local authorities and state politics gathered at the Holstenhallen in Neumünster on 24 March 2026 for the launch conference of Net Zero Valley Schleswig-Holstein. The event marked the official start of the application phase, with the aim of establishing Schleswig-Holstein as a European model region for climate-neutral industrial and infrastructure development.
The focus was on the opportunities a Net Zero Valley offers businesses and the region as a whole. In keynote presentations and a panel discussion, representatives from politics, industry, research and municipal economic development explored how to facilitate investment, accelerate permitting procedures and create new industrial value.
The discussions highlighted Schleswig-Holstein’s potential: renewable energy, high-performing infrastructure and applied research provide a strong foundation for advancing climate-neutral technologies and attracting new industrial businesses.
The launch conference marks the beginning of a state-wide process to combine regional strengths and gather concrete project ideas for the application. Businesses, local authorities, universities and research institutions are invited to contribute actively and help shape the development of Net Zero Valley Schleswig-Holstein.
